While I wasn't thrilled about spending $20 on a juice and a meal, it was definitely worth it! The Kale Salad is absolutely amazing - bursting with lemon and sautéed to perfection! The spicy cabbage wasn't unbearably hot, just the right amount of spice. Loved it! I wasn't extremely impressed with the mac and cheese, but it was a great vegan rendition. The tofu was prepared very well though - I believe I got the "stew". I'm a huge juicer - anything with Beets, I'm in! Loved the juice. I'm happy to have found a nice juice bar, with wonderful food, in Daytona! I will definitely be back.

We just came from visiting NYC for 5 days and continuing our trip thru the US and landed in Daytona Beach, got our rental car and chased some food. We couldn't hit a better spot to have delicious food, friendly staff, an amazingly friendly and open minded owner. If you like vegan food but want to try something really special, go here. I'd describe it as carribean infused vegan kitchen. The smoothies are delish and the portions are enormously huuuuuuge. Darn, I'd live in Daytona Beach? You'd see me here every effing day.

This newly opened cafe in Ormond Beach is a winner. So hard to find vegan places to eat. I had the chickenless agave Dijon sandwich and it was scrumptious! A vegan cutlet with sautéed onions and mushrooms with tomato and kale salad to top it off. All served on ciabatta. Seasonings were perfect. Very tasty. I also had the Bruce it up smoothie which I couldn't stop sipping while waiting for the sandwich. Definitely be going here a lot with many different items on the menu to try.

Extraordinarily delicious entrees and salads plus a juice bar that is shockingly cheap! What a great meal. I thought a kale salad would be bitter. Not this one. So tangy and satisfying that I just keep thinking about it. Everything is fresh and perfectly prepared. The roast beets! The ginger yams! And the barbecued seitan--all delicious. This huge meal was $10. I should have taken part of it home, but just wanted to keep on eating. The owner and his staff are super nice and laid back. Great location across from the Intracoastal on Beach Street. Huge back room could accommodate an army.

Delicious Vegan Caribbean food Consider ordering the Value Plate, which consists of a main entree and 3 sides. It's a large dinner plate with lots of wonderful food for $10. The restaurant has counter service and very friendly staff. There are 5-6 main entrees on the menu. They all sounded delicious.

This place is incredible. All vegan (yay!) and oh so good!! There are a couple options (like most Jamaican places) but they were all super tasty. They give samples so you can taste before you decide.

I've eaten their food 2 years in a row at the Annual VegFest in Jacksonville, FL and it was fabulous in a mobile setting. They're the ones that gave me the idea to use collards in my smoothie if you run out of kale. Can't wait to try their main spot in Daytona Beach, FL and I hear they're opening up a location in Ormond Beach, FL as well. Score!!

Awesome service and great vibes! They offered samples of delicious foods, I enjoyed reading and snaking there. Chill place and I would recommend if you are looking for a healthy way to eat out.

I eat here at least once a week for lunch. The menu is different each day because it is based on what is fresh. My favorites are their jerk mushrooms, teriyaki gardein, mashed potatoes and kale salad. The kale salad is by far the best kale I have ever tasted! The berry bliss smoothie and all of their juices are very good as well. All of the staff is very knowledgeable of the menu items and they offer samples if you want to try it first. If you're looking for 100% vegan and delicious food, this is the place for you.

Yum! This restaurant is not conveniently close to where I live or work however, after hearing about this place from a coffee shop in Daytona Beach, I knew that one day I would just HAVE to eat here! Yesterday afternoon was that opportunity. The food here tastes like a wonderful gourmet meal that your best friend would make in their home, & I mean that in the nicest way. This is vegan food? Wow! I had their seitan in a wonderful wine sauce with onions. Lots & lots of flavor. With their entrees, you also get a choice of 3 sides. I had thinly sliced roasted white & sweet potatoes. Both kinds of potatoes tasted yummy, the sweet potatoes though were over the top. I also had their rice & beans....that was rather blah tasting. But their kale salad with a lemon & garlic dressing... oh my! So, so good! I also had one of their large, fresh juice drinks. And their large drink is LARGE, a tad pricey too at $12. I forgot the name but it had beets & ginger in it. Very tasty! And large! A nice, open & bright & cheery restaurant. You order your food at the counter. The 3 of us who ate there were also given samples of the 3 main entrees that they were serving so that we could choose a meal to our liking. Next time I am in the neighborhood, I will definitely go back. This is good food & a local restaurant that I am very happy to support.

Wow.... I inhaled my spinach pie with tabbouleh salad, roasted potatoes and lentil soup (along with my "green stuff" juice) before I remembered to take a picture to post! This place is awesome! Food and juices are perfect blend, great atmosphere and amazing service... Prices are reasonable and these people are working their tails off... Please visit and spend $$$$ here so we can keep them in business and help them grow! Daytona needs this!!!

Tasty and a good variety on this very small menu. We liked it all...they gave samples.

Where to start...had the brown stew tofo with beans and rice. No flavor along with tasteless rice. Over priced for a place that could care less about service. If you want ice for your water it comes out of a bag from 7-11. Apparently they do not have a ice machine. The style of plating your food was like how a prison cafeteria serves food. I don't plan on going back.

You can feel the love in the food. It is like stepping into home, really. And it tastes as fresh and organic as it is.

If you're looking for vegan food in the Daytona area, look no further. This place is magical. Everything we had to eat was amazing. The Kale salad was RIDICULOUS. The staff was really friendly, and even let us taste some of the menu items before we ordered. If we were in Daytona for longer, we surely would have gone back. Food was excellent. Stop reading reviews and GO HERE!

I just finished my take out from Kale and I feel filled with goodness. If I could afford to eat here everyday of the week I would! I know I am getting nurished no matter what I order. Not only is everything on the menu good for you but it is tasty! (unlike some other places like Fresh where the food to me can be bland) Some of my favorite sides include their KALE SALAD and the ROASTED ROOTS. As far as mains go- i love the mushrooms (both ways, jerk and stuffed) and black beans. Hands down my favorite place to eat!! Oh and favorite smoothie is the BERRY BLISS. I don't ever feel tired after eating their food, actually I feel energized and ready to take on the rest of the day.

I love this place for lunch. The food is hot, wholesome, really delicious. Occasionally, when I've ordered the kale salad it is over dressed and soggy, so this item is hit and miss for me. At other times, they've run out of the kale salad and tell me that they are working on it and it will be out in five minutes - this always turns into 20 minutes or more and by the time I get it, I've finished my lunch. I went to dinner there once only and was very disappointed. I arrived about 30 minutes before closing and the food was obviously left over from lunch. The heating tables had been turned off - the food that I was served was cold and dried from sitting there all afternoon - terrible. I felt like I was the family dog being given the table scraps. To add injury to insult, the wait staff couldn't care less - I was told "what do you expect? We are closing in 30 minutes!" I should have walked right out, but was so hungry - when I sat down to eat, the waiters were putting the chairs up on the tables - they couldn't wait 30 minutes until the doors were closed and I was finished with my meal? They were obviously impatient for me to leave- very uncomfortable for me. I complained at their website to the owners, but no one replied. I also spoke with the owner the next time that I went to lunch, but she didn't seem surprised or apologetic. To be completely fair, the negative dinner experience was about a year ago, so maybe dinner at Kale Café is different now. However, it is the reason that I've not gone back for dinner, but continue to enjoy their delicious lunches.

What a gem! Healthy food in Daytona. I was walking down the street and found this place and had to stop in. Juice, smoothies, and wonderful daily offerings. I wish I found this earlier in my trip.

I've been to many Vegan restaurants around the world but this one has a special magic in the atmosphere and the food. I love the family who own it. Camille and Omar are awesome. The kids are adorable, the food is spectacular (WHY can't I make my kale at home taste half as good as their kale salad?!) I love playing the piano, dancing with the kids, meeting like minded people. Oh and remember -they DO have seats out in front but they have a whole beautifully decorated outdoor area in the back to eat which is great during the sunset. Also if you can't find parking go around back. you can walk i that way too. I love love love it here and it's my home away from home!

Not feeling tops? Get the Green Stuff smoothie. Two sips and my headache instantly dissipated. A little pricey at $10 for a large but well worth it.

Amazing food, Amazing Staff. This is what food should taste like. Family owned business. Raw and vegetarian food. Loved my smoothie!!! Great prices. Went with a few friends and all enjoyed the fresh, tasty ingredients. A must try!!!

Like other people I love the food at this place.. But a couple of weeks ago I went to this place with a friend and I saw a little roach. So I told the owner about it , her response was that they needed to close down the place for a few days and fumigate .. At the end of the conversation she asked if we were "visiting " , we said that we are actually locals and her face completely changed. Maybe she was hoping I wouldn't spread the word... Iam sorry, the food is delicious and I like the whole family vibe ..however it is unnaceptable to see a roach walking by daytime at a place you eat . No, unfortunately I won't be back. If this is daytime while people are there , can you imagine when they close the business ? What a shame... They sale "healthy " style of eating but they obviously had an epidemic when I went. Just be careful.

Carribean themed vegan soul food themed spot. There is truly nothing like this around & Daytona is lucky to have them. Hopefully as the owners gain more experience it will become even better. Overall, their food is tasty (though their seitan needs more practice) and they will ley you try anything but my peve is it is not consistent. Ex, sometimes their kale salad is overtly lemony and jerk mushrooms super spicy and othertimes they are just right or even bland! Now this is a sure sign they definitely make everything fresh by sight w/o recipes but difficult when ordering or recommending to friends. Also the 4x ive been there they were out of their specials twice (better arrive early to lunch I guess!) and their pricing is not always what is posted on the chalkboard and portion size varies from plate to plate. Also their carrot juice was half juiced fresh and half poured from an "overfill" jug from the fridge. IMHO a simple carrot juice from a juice bar should be made fresh to order. Again, signs they need recipes. I recommend their Bruce it Up smoothie- a meal in itself- and their chickpea curry, and lentil soup. This place has potential.

Delicious vegan food! Stirfry with vegan strips, beans and rice, sweet yams, jerk tofu, and kale salad. Yum! Owned by a very delightful and friendly family. Cheery decor and a great view of the Daytona bridge. Located in historic Daytona, a great neighborhood to explore after dining.

Really good food. Great staff and owners. It is a place were you walk out feeling better than you went in. I had the jerk mushrooms with yams, kale salad, and cabbage with pumpkin. The kale salad and mushrooms were awesome. The yams were pretty good. The cabbage and pumpkin could have used a little more seasoning. It is a little pricy for nothing but vegetables. But I will be back when I need some veg in my normal lunch routine.

Finally! Daytona Beach, and especially the Beach Street District, needed a place like this! A family-owned, friendly, healthy restaurant. Every time I visit, I'm always offered samples of what they have on their daily menu, which changes every day based on what is fresh. Love that! They support local businesses and offer great healthy food options. The owners and staff are super nice so it just adds to the experience. The smoothies are amazing! And there's something to be said about those roasted beets. Just a hint of cinnamon makes such a big difference. Definitely recommending this place, for sure!

Did not realize actual food is served here but it is. A special meal is prepared daily so its fresh. I came on Thursday and wanted a Saturday meal, but no Saturday meal on Thursday. I like the concept of focusing on one meal a day to make it fresh and flavorful instead of being all over the place and not being as fresh and flavorful. And let's face it, easier for indecisive people like me. It may be helpful to list just the special of the day so people will not get hopes dashed if the day of the week does not correspond with the meal you want. I came for green juice which was tasty and made very quickly. Great option for healthy juices. To me, this place has an ATL vibe. You'll know what I mean when you visit.

I stopped by Kale cafe after noticing they are opening a new location in Ormond Beach, which will be closer to my home. At first, the place looks like something you'll see in the Caribbean with lots of colored walls and humble decor. The first thing that got my attention was the drink menu which displayed an array of healthy drink alternatives packed with natural ingredients. My wife enjoyed the food made up of several natural ingredients (curry, jerk, cumin, etc). I personally wasn't crazy about the food taste, but I give it to Kale for bringing a health conscious alternative to other fast food places. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the drinks they have; their green stuff was thick and packed with green stuff!

This place is awesome! Such nice people and you can tell the food is made from scratch and fresh. Non-vegans and -vegetarians should absolutely come here too. I love a hearty steak but I always look forward to getting lunch here. The buffalo cauliflower wings are delish and their kale is SO GOOD. don't even know what's in it. Amazing.

Stopped in today while exploring the area. Instantly fell in love. The staff was super friendly, offering me samples of basically everything they had to offer. The food was SO good. I had the seitan brisket, jerk mushrooms, kale salad, and some kind of cabbage dish. Everything was completely wonderful! I was also pretty glad to hear they have a military discount (10%). I will definitely be back when I am in the area again.

This must be the best vegan restaurant in Daytona! There are a variety of tasty dishes on the menu, friendly and helpful staff, concerned and visible owners, and good, tasty, seasoned food! No complaints here... Only accolades to the owner for being a local business owner on a mission! I always enjoy the Green Stuff Smoothie ($5 for a small) and a tasty side dish. My bill usually amounts to about $10 or so. Most recently, I had a hearty, delicious side dish of curried lentils and garbanzo beans with potato. So good... I can't wait to order it again! I'm really glad that they are on the scene in historic, downtown, Daytona Beach!

Kale Cafe is a vegan family owned business operated by Omar and Camille Brown, residents of Daytona Beach. They began offering fresh home made fruit and vegetable smoothies at the Daytona Beach Farmers Market. Their diligence to their cause of sharing an example of delicious healthy eating has yielded the fruit of two locations, one in Daytona Beach on Beach Street and their new location in Ormond Beach. Kale cafe serves homemade vegan meals family style, along with delicious freshly made vegetable and fruit juices, and fresh smoothies to order. Kale salad and kale smoothies are their signature dishes. The meals are flavored Jamaican style so choose carefully if you don't like a lot of spices or ask for a complimentary taste. I happen to love the seasoning. Kale Cafe's menu changes daily and closes by 7 in the evening and is closed on Sunday. Some of my favorites are the simple rice and peas, kale salad, and the vegetarian lasagna. Camille and Omar Brown have close ties to the community and are available for special events. They have donated their time and food with the City of Daytona Beach Leisure Services for programs for children and other local events to educate the public about the good taste of healthy eating. They employ the needy improving their quality of life. This beautiful family lives their philosophy as they are raising five vegetarian children.

Hands down the BEST vegan restaurant I've ever been to. Seriously good food. The vegan burger is perfect, even if it is a little messy to eat. And the Brown Stew Tofu is amazing. I'd eat here everyday if I could.

I juice everyday and was a slight let down by the green juice here. Needs more kale and celery per oz of juice as the price is pretty steep, but hey they seemed like good folks and the place has a cool vibe. Zumba in the back I think.

Yummy Vegan Restaurant.. The people that work there are extremely tolerant and sweet, they gave me small samples of almost their entire menu and let me tell you, One of the best vegan food I've ever tried. So good that I gotta go back and I'm not even a vegan! As for the smoothies on the other hand, I tried two different ones, I forgot which ones they were but I wasn't impressed, felt like they needed real milk for it. But I appreciate that it was fresh. (Minus one star for the smoothies).

Great service & food. Smoothies are great. Try the kale smoothie! Kale juice is also great. The owner was very kind and offered fun additions like pear and mint to spice up my juice. He also generously offered tons of samples and I just had to walk away with one of their meal deals. 1 entree with 3 sides for $10. Huge box of vegan food for $10 is a good deal to me! Kale salad is very good. OK looks like I mentioned kale three times already and so this cafe does deserve it's name, kale cafe! But no they have way more than that..they have special entrees everyday (such as tofu stew, seitan peanut stew) and they also have raw vegan food. I also got a vegan blueberry muffin. Glad this 100% vegan cafe is here to offer yummy, healthy vegan food to the Daytona community!

Great healthfood juice shop in an intriguing space. The family that runs the place is very friendly and accommodating and the juices are always fresh and tasty. Have only tried the kale salad as far as food goes but was delighted by some of the greenest kale I had ever seen. The Green machine juice was my favorite but the mango wasnt bad either.

Amazing food! Makes you feel energized and good about yourself. As an esthetician I take great care in what I put in my body and their food is great for anti aging and great for keeping the body healthy. I highly recommend this place to anyone. Kale cafe needs to come to Denver!! The healthy food industry is sky rocketing over here!

  • Cathleen B.

I go here all the time food is fairly good. But since they opened a second location the quality has gone down. I ordered a vege burger without a bun which was burned and a side of rice and beans, mostly rice that was hard and tasteless. I was charged $12 and the side was a spoon of rice and beans that was $5. Outrageous I usually get the brown stew tofu and I love it but lately it is over cooked and the tofu is tough and burned. Very disappointed I will have to find a new place.

Really cool restaurant to find in Daytona. The menu was a little bit confusing. Basically they have a chalkboard with some squiggly lines and items written on it. How it works is you choose one entree and three sides, and that is your meal. They make big batches of food throughout the day and if they run out they make something else. The menu also rotates. So different food will be available different days. The owner, his wife, and two girls were at the cafe while we dined and they were all super friendly and inviting. I felt like I was eating with friends rather than being a customer at a restaurant. Everything is organic and super flavorful. I give it 4 stars for the confusing menu and the fact they didn't seem to have a good system down yet. But they only opened 6 months ago and they are first time restaurant owners. I can't wait to see how they're doing a year from now when I visit Daytona again! Keep up the good work guys :)

Delicious and healthy. Reminds me of something a real city would have; I used to frequent places like this when I lived in NYC. Smoothies are excellent, and so is the kale salad. Everything looks and tastes homemade in a good way, like someone put a lot of care into the freshness and healthfulness. I will definitely be back!
